Julian Talbot
Julian Talbot is an internationally recognized risk management practitioner, author, and executive with nearly four decades of experience across government, defense, industry, and international operations. His career has included senior leadership and advisory roles in enterprise risk management, national security, critical infrastructure, technology, and complex operational environments across five continents. He has served as Chief Risk Officer of AeroSafe, Head of Security for Austrade’s international network, Senior Risk Adviser to the Australian Department of Health, and in senior security and risk roles in the resources sector. He was lead author of the Security Risk Management Body of Knowledge, co-authored with Miles Jakeman and published by Wiley in 2009, and has authored approximately 20 books on risk management, security, and related disciplines. He holds a Master of Risk Management, is a Fellow of the Risk Management Institution of Australasia and the Institute of Strategic Risk Management, and received the Australian Security Medal in 2014.
Miles Jakeman
Miles Jakeman has more than three decades of experience in security, intelligence, and risk management across government and industry. His career has included military service, establishing national counterterrorism and aviation security programs, enhancing border security, building regional crisis management systems, and leading business continuity operations across the Asia-Pacific. He co-founded The Citadel Group, a large technology and national security
company, and served as its founding Managing Director for 11 years. He also co-authored the Security Risk Management Body of Knowledge with Julian Talbot and holds doctorates in Asian Studies and Business Leadership. He was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to business, national security, and the community.
Jason Brown
Jason Brown chaired ISO/TC 262, the international technical committee on risk management, during the development of ISO 31000:2018. His career includes senior roles in the Security Portfolio of the Australian Attorney-General’s Department and the Australian Department of Defence, where he served as Head of Defence Security. His work spans national security, organizational assurance, and the development and application of international risk management standards. He received the Australian Security Medal for Conspicuous Service in 2011. In 2019, IFSEC International recognized him as one of the 20 most influential people globally in security and fire management, and in 2025 he received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Security & Government Conference.
